Coatlicue is one of the representations of Mother Earth who gave birth to all celestial things, and her skirt of snakes has earned her the name Lady Serpent Skirt by many Xicanas. For me she represents the connection between earth, the stars, moon, creation and the balance in the universe they are all part of. This image has her standing in front of a pattern of the stars with a serpent pattern, this pattern is one of many that came from the Toltecas in Mexico over 3000 years ago.
